As a Principal Health Care Statistician, you will be responsible for using data to uncover insights and patterns in complex data, answer questions, and solve problems. You will apply robust knowledge of statistics and research methods to large data sets and varied types of structured and unstructured data to develop insights and distill them into readily consumable formats and visualizations. The statistician will work closely with data engineers, data analysts, researchers, clinicians, and other internal stakeholders. Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand business requirements and translate them into analytical solutions.
  • Extract, clean, and preprocess large datasets to prepare them for analysis, ensuring accuracy and integrity.
  • Write, test, review, and maintain SAS programs to extract, transform, and manipulate data in structured and unstructured datasets.
  • Document solutions, processes, and methodologies for consistency and scalability.

This position is office based at our Albany, NY building.

Qualifications:

  • Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Excellent critical thinking, problem solving, and analytical skills.
  • Strong working knowledge of medical claims and eligibility data.
  • Strong knowledge of applied statistics and ability to identify appropriate statistical methods for different problems and contexts.
  • Proficiency in writing and testing SAS programs to extract, validate, transform, and analyze large complex datasets. 

Education & Experience:

  • Master’s degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Data Science, or a related field, required.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience with complex statistical analysis, statistical programming, sampling methodologies, etc., required. 
  • A minimum of five (5) years of experience working in healthcare-related contexts (payer or provider) required. 
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP a plus. 

The salary range and/or hourly rate listed is a good faith determination of potential base compensation that may be offered to a successful applicant for this position at the time of this job advertisement and may be modified in the future. The annualized salary range for this position is $100,000.00 - $120,000.00. Actual salary range and/or hourly rate depends on a variety of factors including experience, education, credentials, location, and budget.
